ILOILO CITY – A prominent bus company is offering a 10 percent fare discount to passengers this Holy Week amid the rising fuel costs from the Middle East war.
The Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC) – the country’s largest bus conglomerate that includes the popular Ceres – is offering the discount to all passengers from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.
The YGBC heeded the recent call of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for bayanihan, community-driven spirit of the Filipino, as the country faces a national energy emergency.
“This fare discount is one way of supporting our government and President Marcos' program of ensuring that our countrymen spend a meaningful Holy Week with their loved ones,” said YGBC President Leo Rey V. Yanson in a statement on Tuesday, March 31.
The discount not only applies to YGBC operations in the Visayas, but also in Southern Luzon and Mindanao.
The YGBC, founded in Negros Occidental, assured the public that they won’t increase fares in all of its companies, including those operating under Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI).
VTI assured no interruptions of operations for the entire week, including Good Friday.
Jade Marquez, VTI media relations officer, said they will cater to passengers in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Iloilo with regular trips on Good Friday.
