Robber killed, cohorts wounded, arrested in Catbalogan

TACLOBAN CITY – A suspected robber was killed and his cohort was injured during a robbery-holdup in a bus terminal in Catbalogan City, Samar recently.
The Samar Police Provincial Office said a third suspect, a resident of Agno, Pangasinan, was caught in a hot-pursuit operation in Barangay Lagundi, Catbalogan City.
Investigation said that the suspects entered the terminal cashier and declared a holdup.
They ordered cashiers to surrender their cash and cellphones and fled. The owners, who were monitoring the situation through surveillance cameras from their office, armed themselves and pursued the suspects.
An encounter erupted between the owners and the suspects. Two suspects were wounded and taken to a hospital for treatment. One of the suspects, Jer, a resident of Jiabong, Samar, was declared dead on arrival. Recovered from Jer’s possession were a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine with six bullets, cash, and a cellphone.
The second injured suspect, Rob, is confined in a hospital. Seized from him were a bladed weapon, a jacket, and a bonnet with a bullcap. Rob voluntarily disclosed his identity and those of his two cohorts.
The stolen items were recovered. No civilians were harmed.
Appropriate charges are being prepared against the suspects.
