Around 42,000 fully-grown marijuana plants worth approximately P8.4 million were destroyed during the two day eradication operation in Tinglaya, Kalinga, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stated on Monday, March 30.
During the two-day March 27 to 28 high-impact operation, anti-narcotics agents scoured the area relentlessly until discovering around 4,200 square meters of land with fully-grown marijuana plants in Barangay Loccong.
The PDEA-CAR Kalinga Provincial Office, the PNP Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operating Unit (PDEG-SOU), and the Special Action Force (SAF immediately burned the marijuana plants on-site to prevent further illegal cultivation and distribution.
However, no cultivators were arrested but authorities are actively working with the local government to identify the landowner and the other individuals working in the marijuana plantation.
“This successful eradication underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat illegal drug activities and protect the community from the adverse effects of illegal drugs,’’ the PDEA said.
