MADRIA (DCPO)
DAVAO CITY – The Davao City government on Monday, March 30, welcomed Police Col. Peter Bauzon Madria as the new director of the Davao City Police Office.
Madria assumed the post from Police Col. Mannan Muarip, who served the DCPO for eight months.
The turnover ceremony at the Sandigan Hall in Camp Capt. Domingo E. Leonor on San Pedro St. was presided over by Police Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete, Police Regional Office-11 chief.
Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in a message read by Angel Sumagaysay, head of the Davao Public Safety and Security Center, thanked Muarip for maintaining peace and order in the city.
The mayor urged Madria to maintain DCPO standards and lead in a way that builds trust and unity. He asked police officers to show the same commitment and professionalism to their new director.
Duterte emphasized that public safety remains a top priority for the local government and credited the DCPO under Muarip's leadership for its continued efforts to secure Davao City.
He highlighted the Davao Framework focused on discipline, action, virtue, accountability, and order as a key initiative that improved operational performance while promoting a culture of public service within the police force.
As the outgoing police director moves to a new assignment, Duterte expressed hope that he would continue to exemplify integrity and inspire others in both the police organization and the broader community.
Sumagaysay acknowledged Muarip's contributions, describing his leadership as hands-on and visible in operations. He said Muarip's presence boosted personnel morale and noted that there were no major incidents during large events.
The PSSCC official thanked Muarip for his strong partnership with the Security and Safety Cluster and wished him continued success in his next post and future assignments.
"Congratulations, Police Col. Peter Madriaga. We look to you to sustain the best practices of the Davao City Police Office and to uphold its legacy of service and protection for the welfare of the people," Duterte said.
Madria afterwards convened his first command conference with senior officers, station commanders, and support units to align operational priorities and address current concerns.
They presented their functions, ongoing operations, and key challenges before their new director.
Madria assured personnel of his support and ordered intensified anti-crime efforts, emphasizing proactive measures to prevent crime and maintain public safety in Davao City.
He said DCPO personnel expressed full support for his leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to serve and protect the city's residents.
The DCPO said the change in command represents both continuity and renewal, with the police force expected to build on existing gains while advancing initiatives that promote security, accountability, and community partnership.
