President Marcos announced that the newly opened Cavitex–C5 Link Segment 3B will be toll-free for the entire month of April to benefit motorists, especially during the Holy Week travel period.
“Nais kong i-announce na ito, toll-free ito buong Abril… mula ngayon hanggang end of April, toll-free muna dito (I would like to announce that this will be toll-free for the entire month of April… from now until the end of April, it will be toll-free),” the President said during the opening ceremony in Parañaque City on Monday, March 30.
The President said the new two-kilometer connector road linking Cavitex to C5 will significantly ease traffic congestion.
It is expected to serve around 36,000 vehicles daily, helping decongest smaller roads in nearby areas.
“‘Yung biyahe na dati ay isang oras, isang oras at kalahati, magiging 15 minutes na lang (Travel that used to take one to one-and-a-half hours will now only take 15 minutes),” he said.
Fuel savings amid oil crisis
Marcos highlighted the project’s impact on fuel consumption, noting that shorter travel time translates to lower fuel expenses.
“Napakalaking savings ito sa gasolina, sa krudo, sa fuel… hindi maliit na bagay ang babawasan mo ang biyahe mo mula sa isang oras at kalahati hanggang 15 minutes (This means significant savings in gasoline and fuel… reducing travel from one and a half hours to 15 minutes is no small thing),” he said.
He added that the project is timely as the country continues to deal with rising fuel prices due to tensions in the Middle East.
Part of broader road expansion
According to the President, the opening forms part of the government’s push to expand road networks under its transport initiatives.
“Kasama ito sa ating utos… na buksan lahat ng mga daan upang maging mas maginhawa ang pagbiyahe ng ating traveling public (This is part of our directive to open more roads to make travel more convenient for the public),” he said.
He added that more infrastructure projects will be opened in the coming days, including a new road segment in Central Luzon connecting Tarlac to Cabanatuan.
He said these efforts aim to make travel faster, more efficient, and safer for Filipinos.
“Patuloy nating gagawin ito… nais natin talagang maging mas mabilis, mas maginhawa, at mas ligtas ang pagbiyahe ng ating mga kababayan (We will continue doing this… we want travel to be faster, more convenient, and safer for our people),” Marcos said.
