The Malabon City government announced on Monday, March 30, that it will deploy a total of 527 personnel during Holy Week to ensure the safety and order of residents and visitors.
According to the city’s Public Information Office, personnel from the Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Malabon City Police Station (MCPS), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and other city units will be deployed near churches and major roads from April 2 (Maundy Thursday) to April 5 (Easter Sunday).
Incident command posts will also be set up near 12 churches in the city to provide security, medical, and emergency services, especially in areas where large crowds are expected.
The city government said the initiative aims to manage crowds and ensure a quick response to emergencies.
Measures also include the installation of pedestrian lanes, traffic control points, and first aid and medical assistance stations.
The local government listed the churches covered by the deployment, including La Purisima Concepcion de Malabon, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, San Bartolome Parish Church, Parokya ng Sto. Rosario in Dampalit, San Antonio de Padua Parish, St. Peter and John Parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Church, Exaltation of the Holy Cross Parish, Immaculate Conception Parish, Saint Claire of Assisi Parish in Longos, Nuestro Señor de Longos, and Holy Trinity Quasi-Parish.
“Sa makabuluhang linggong ito, kung saan ating inaalala ang naging sakripisyo ng ating Panginoong Hesukristo para sa kaligtasan ng sanlibutan, nais nating masiguro ang kaayusan sa lungsod. Kaya naman tayo ay agad na nagplano at nagpatupad ng mga programa para sa kaligtasan sa bawat simbahan, tahanan, at daanan na magiging bahagi ng mga aktibidad para sa Semana Santa (During this meaningful week, as we remember the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of the world, we want to ensure order in the city. That is why we immediately planned and implemented programs to ensure safety in every church, home, and road that will be part of Holy Week activities),” Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.
“Katuwang ang iba't ibang ahensiya ng pamahalaang lungsod, mga organisasyon, at grupo sa Malabon, layunin nating mapanatili ang kapayapaan para sa mas maayos na paggunita ng ating mga kababayan (With the help of various city government agencies, organizations, and groups in Malabon, we aim to maintain peace for a more orderly observance of Holy Week among our residents),” she added.
The MDRRMO also reiterated that prohibited items include weapons and sharp objects, alcoholic beverages, flammable and explosive materials, glass containers, and unauthorized equipment such as drones, laser pointers, and high-powered lights.
Non-essential loudspeakers, excessive decorations that block pathways, and items that may disrupt religious ceremonies are likewise prohibited.
In case of emergencies, residents and churchgoers are advised to use the Malabon All Hazards One Network 24/7 Alert Application or contact Let’s Connect TXTMJS (09176898657 / 09178898657).
