Google expands Search Live to over 200 countries with new AI voice model

Google has rolled out Search Live globally, bringing its AI-powered search experience to all languages and locations where AI Mode is available. The expansion now covers more than 200 countries and territories, allowing users to engage with Search through real-time voice and camera conversations.

The global rollout is made possible by Google's newly introduced audio and voice model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live. The model is built to deliver more natural conversational interactions and features native multilingual support, enabling users to speak with Search in their preferred language regardless of where they are in the world.
How Search Live works
Search Live is accessible through the Google app on both Android and iOS. Users can tap the Live icon beneath the Search bar to begin a voice session, ask questions out loud, receive audio responses, and continue the conversation with follow-up queries. Web links are also surfaced during sessions for users who want to explore topics further.
The feature also supports camera input, allowing users to point their device at real-world objects or environments for visual context. Google cites practical examples such as getting step-by-step guidance on installing a shelving unit by simply showing it to the camera.
Additionally, Search Live integrates with Google Lens. Users can tap the Live option within Lens to initiate real-time, back-and-forth conversations tied to whatever the camera is pointed at.

Google described the global availability of Search Live as "a significant shift in how information is accessed, moving from static queries to dynamic, multimodal assistance," adding that the feature combines "voice, sight, and the vast knowledge of the web" as part of its broader effort to make Search "a more personal and capable tool for learning and exploration."
