The southbound lane of the EDSA Magallanes Flyover will be temporarily closed to give way for the round-the-clock rehabilitation works during the Holy Week period, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Monday, Mar. 30.
DPWH said the nonstop construction activity is part of its ongoing EDSA rehabilitation program aimed at improving road safety and road conditions for motorists.
In an advisory, the agency said the 24-hour rehabilitation works will run from 10:00 p.m. on Apr. 1 until 4:00 a.m. on Apr. 5.
“The works will cover asphalt overlay and the repair of expansion joints along the southbound portion of the flyover,” the DPWH said.
“The southbound lane will be fully closed to traffic during the works, while the northbound lane will remain open to motorists),” it added.
DPWH assured the public that the affected section will be reopened as scheduled, in time for the expected increase in vehicle volume at the end of the Holy Week break.
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes via the EDSA Service Road.
Rerouting will direct vehicles to veer right before the Magallanes Flyover, turn right onto Chino Roces Avenue, proceed toward Waltermart Makati, turn left onto Antonio Arnaiz Avenue, continue to Osmeña Highway, and reconnect to EDSA toward Pasay to help ensure smoother traffic flow and public safety.
