ILOILO CITY – Six Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers tested positive for illegal drugs during a random drug test conducted in Western Visayas on Monday, March 30.
Five of them tested positive for alleged use of shabu while the other tested positive for alleged use of marijuana.
Known as “Oplan Harabas,” the joint operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-6 and Land Transportation Office-6 conducted random testing of 822 PUV drivers in six transportation terminals.
“This is a unified effort of government agencies to ensure a safe, drug-free, and orderly travel experience for all commuters this Holy Week,” said PDEA-6 spokesperson Maria Graziella Tanaleon.
Their driver’s licenses have been confiscated by LTO and they could not drive until they are cleared by confirmatory tests.
Drug tests were conducted in three transport terminals in Antique – San Jose de Buenavista, Culasi, and Tibiao; Roxas City, Capiz province; Kalibo, Aklan, and Sara, Iloilo.
