ILAGAN CITY, Isabela – Two children drowned on the Cagayan River in Barangay Santa Isabel Norte here on Saturday, March 28.
Police identified the fatalities as Tin and Joy, both 10-years-old.
Investigation said the victims and two other children went to the river to swim. However, they were swept to a deep portion of the river due to the strong current.
A resident rescued two children but the other two could not be saved.
The victims’ remains were recovered in a search and rescue operation.
Their parents declined an autopsy and were said to be overwhelmed with grief.
Authorities reminded the people not to allow children to swim without adult supervision to prevent similar incidents, especially during the Holy Week.
