Toyota Motor Philippines has launched a Special Service Campaign for select Land Cruiser LC300 units in the Philippines, covering a free reprogramming of the transmission ECU. The campaign affects 3,847 vehicles produced from November 22, 2024 to December 5, 2025. Owners may check coverage using Toyota’s online VIN checker and schedule the work with any authorized dealer.
The issue involves the LC300’s 10-speed automatic transmission. Under certain driving conditions, one of the transmission’s linear solenoids may stop working, and the fault may not be properly detected or communicated between the transmission ECU and the engine ECU. When that happens, the transmission may overrev in certain gears, which can lead to transmission damage and possible loss of power at higher speeds. In some cases, damage to parts of the transmission housing may also allow fluid to leak, creating a possible fire risk if an ignition source is present.
The remedy is a software update for the transmission ECU. Toyota will carry out the reprogramming at no cost to affected customers. The procedure may be booked as a standalone service visit or done alongside periodic maintenance if the vehicle is already due for service.
Owners of affected vehicles will also be notified through official letters. For those who want to verify coverage immediately or arrange an appointment, Toyota has made the campaign details available through its service campaign portal, dealer network, Customer Assistance Center, official Facebook page, and MyToyotaPH app.
This is separate from an earlier Land Cruiser 300 service campaign in the Philippines announced in 2024. That previous action covered 3,420 units produced from July 21, 2021 to January 12, 2024 and dealt with a different transmission-related concern involving delayed disengagement when shifting to neutral.
The latest campaign also comes against the backdrop of similar transmission-related actions involving the Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX in other markets. Reports from abroad have pointed to the same general set of risks, including overrevving, loss of motive power, fluid leakage, and in severe cases, fire risk.
For local LC300 owners, the practical next step is simple: check the VIN, confirm whether the vehicle is covered, and have the transmission ECU reprogrammed as soon as possible.
