DAVAO CITY – Police Col. Peter Madria has been appointed as Davao City Police Office chief.
Madria, chief of the Regional Operations Division of the Police Regional Office-11, will assume the position in a ceremony on Monday.
Outgoing DCPO chief Police Col. Mannan Muarip said the decision came from Camp Crame and has been approved by Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte.
Muarip held the position for eight months.
The leadership change will be held months after the first turnover between Muarip and Madria was canceled, reportedly due to procedural requirements, including the need to coordinate with the city government.
In a farewell message, Muarip thanked city government officials, residents, and various stakeholders for their unwavering support and cooperation during his tenure.
Muarip said that the accomplishments of the DCPO were the result of collective strength, trust, and unity among law enforcement, local government units, partner agencies, and the community.
He said the DAVAO framework—Discipline, Action, Virtue, Accountability, and Order—guided the office's efforts to strengthen peace and order, improve relations with the community, and enhance public safety and response.
Muarip said that maintaining peace and order is a shared responsibility built through cooperation and mutual respect between authorities and the public.
He said the DCPO sustained anti-criminality operations and strengthened community-based policing, contributing to ongoing law enforcement initiatives and improving public safety in the city.
Muarip thanked DCPO personnel for their dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protect Davao City. He acknowledged that their service, often beyond the call of duty, reflects the true spirit of public service.
"As I conclude my tenure, I thank the people of Davao City for their trust and partnership in building a safer community," said Muarip who reaffirmed that the organization will continue to be guided by unity, professionalism, and accountability.
