Student hurt in San Mateo, Rizal robbery

A student was injured when two robbers struck him on the head with a gun and stole his mobile phone and wallet in Barangay Ampid 1, San Mateo, Rizal, on Thursday, March 26.

According to the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO), the victim was walking along Fortunate Street on his way to school when two men onboard a motorcycle suddenly approached and declared a holdup.

The victim attempted to resist, prompting one of the robbers to pull out a gun and hit the victim on the head, causing a deep laceration wound and severe swelling on the left side of his face.

The robbers then took the victim's iPhone and wallet before escaping toward the direction of Gen. Luna Street, Rodriguez, Rizal. 

Meanwhile, the victim was rushed to Ynares Hospital for treatment.

The police said a follow-up operation was launched for the suspects.
