The Police Regional Office-1 is on full alert starting Sunday, March 29, for the Holy Week and summer vacation in the Ilocos region.
Police Brig. Gen. Dindo R. Reyes, PRO-1 director, said at least 2,500 police personnel have been deployed to key areas such as churches, transportation hubs, and popular beach destinations.
The intensified security effort is supported by local government units and partner agencies to ensure stronger police visibility and faster emergency response.
Despite operational challenges, including rising fuel costs, PRO-1 said they are implementing more efficient strategies. These include intelligence-driven operations, crime mapping, and increased foot and bicycle patrols, particularly in high-traffic areas where large crowds are expected.
Authorities urged the people to take precautionary measures before traveling. They were advised to follow the “Blowbagets” safety checklist and secure their homes to reduce the risk of accidents and theft.
Blowbagets is popular Filipino mnemonic device used by drivers to ensure vehicle roadworthiness and prevent breakdowns before traveling. It stands for Battery, Lights, Oil, Water, Brake, Air (tires), Gas, Engine, Tire, and Self (mental and physical condition).
PRO-1 reaffirmed their commitment to delivering fast, fair, and meaningful police service and called on the public to cooperate in ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and meaningful Holy Week.
