2 most wanted persons for illegal drugs, possession of firearm arrested in Muntinlupa
Police arrested two most wanted persons for illegal drugs and possession of a firearm in separate operations in Muntinlupa.
On March 27, the Muntinlupa police arrested alias Son, 39, driver, a resident of Barangay Cupang and classified as the No. 8 most wanted person (station level).
He was nabbed by operatives from the Muntinlupa police’s Warrant and Subpoena Unit based on a warrant of arrest for a case for violation of Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
The warrant for service of sentence was issued on March 26 by Presiding Judge Lovella Fernandez Demetria-Valdez of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 276.
He is being detained at the Muntinlupa police’s custodial facility pending the return of the warrant to the court.
Last March 26, the Muntinlupa police nabbed alias Mac, 33, tricycle driver, a resident of Barangay Alabang and tagged as the No. 4 most wanted person for illegal firearms.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Acting Presiding Judge Desiree Gertrude Orquiola-Moldez of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 206.
He is facing charges for qualified unlawful possession of a small firearm under Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act). The police said the offense is considered a serious threat to public safety as the illegal possession of firearms often contributes to the commission of violent crimes and undermines peace and order in communities.
Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo, Southern Police District director, commended the units in the two operations.
