LIPA CITY, Batangas – The Lipa-Mataas na Kahoy bypass road here was inaugurated on Thursday, March 26.
The inauguration was led by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon, Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara, Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian, House Assistant Majority Leader Batangas Rep. Ryan Santos Recto, Lipa City Mayor Eric Africa, and provincial officials.
The five-kilometer road is a project of the Department of Public Works and Highways, crossing Barangay Bulacnin to Barangays Tangway and San Salvador and ends at the Lipa-Mataas na Kahoy Junction near San Fernando Airbase.
The road provides a shorter, safe, and inclusive route for motorists and commuters and helps support the economic growth of Batangas.
Meanwhile, authorities conducted “Oplan: Harabas,” a simultaneous drug testing of all drivers and conductors at the Batangas Grand Terminal, Batangas City, Batangas and Robinson's Place, Antipolo City, Rizal on Thursday, March 26.
Two-hundred bus, jeepney, tricycle drivers, and conductors were subjected to random drug testing. Two tested positive and results will be confirmed thru chemical analysis.
Their licenses were turned over to the Land Transportation Office for proper disposition while the drivers were endorsed to the local government unit for assessment and provision of appropriate intervention program.
