SEOUL, South Korea - Korean actor Lee Sang-bo passed away on March 26. He was 44.
According to the Pyeongtaek Police Station in Gyeonggi Province, at around 12:40 p.m. on March 26, his family discovered him dead at his home in Pyeongtaek and reported it to the police.
The police currently believe there are no signs of foul play and are investigating the specific circumstances of his death, Korean media reported.
His wake will be held at the Pyeongtaek Central Funeral Home in Gyeonggi Province. The funeral will be on March 29 at 10:30 a.m., and the burial site will be the Pyeongtaek Municipal Memorial Park
Born in 1981, Lee Sang-bo made his debut in 2006 in the drama “The Invisible Man.” His acting credits included “Secretly Greatly,” “The Elegant Empire,” “Miss Monte-Cristo,” “Private Lives,” and “Rugal.”
He signaled a new beginning last year by signing an exclusive contract with an agency.
In 2022, Lee Sang-bo was embroiled in allegations of drug use, but it was confirmed to be a misunderstanding stemming from the use of antidepressants prescribed by a hospital.
On Sept. 10, 2022, he was arrested by the police after CCTV footage showed him staggering while walking in Gangnam, Seoul. A netizen called the police, who arrested the actor and released him afterwards.
He said the medicine he was taking was for his depression and anxiety.
“I've never used drugs, I've never seen drugs, and I've never been associated with a person who used drugs.I've never done drugs. What I'm taking right now is a tranquilizer,” he told Korean media.
The actor said he started his treatment for depression after his father died in 2009. Another tragedy happened when his mother and older sisters died in an accident.
