With the Tropang 5G boasting towering import Bol Bol, the bridesmaid finishers of the last conference eye payback against the Beermen in their duel scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
Serving as a fitting appetizer is the clash between Magnolia and Macau – two teams still searching for a breakthrough in the first game at 5:15 p.m.
TNT and SMB were off to a slow start in the conference but they finally scored their first wins in their last games – the Beermen with a 103-99 win over the Converge FiberXers and the Tropang 5G with a 103-97 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors.
Having to recover from a 0-2 start last conference, San Miguel knew full well how hard it is to regain touch from a slow start.
“Hindi ito katulad nung last conference (Philippine Cup) na nag-start kami ng 0-2. Mahaba naman kasi yung conference na yun. Unlike ngayon sobrang bilis lang. Every other day yung game, tapos sunud-sunod na,” said SMB star June Mar Fajardo.
“And mahirap kapag nabaon sa standings. Malalakas yung mga teams ngayon at walang mahinang team sa liga,” he added.
More than the Finals rematch, however, a lot is anticipating the clash between Fajardo and Bol inside the paint.
The 7-foot-3 center had 40 points and 16 rebounds in his second game in the PBA and he will now be facing the most dominant big man the league has ever seen in Fajardo.
Of course, capable of taking the spotlight are other Beermen in CJ Perez, Marcio Lassiter, and import Marcus Lee while the Tropa have the likes of Calvin Oftana, Jayson Castro and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser.
