Fair weather to prevail across the Philippines during Holy Week — PAGASA
Most parts of the country will experience generally fair weather during Holy Week with only isolated rain showers expected in the afternoons or evenings, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its weekly outlook for March 27 to April 3, PAGASA said the easterlies will continue to be the country’s dominant weather system, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies across the country.
The conditions will be mostly favorable for travel and outdoor religious activities from Maundy Thursday on April 2 through Good Friday on April 3, which are among the peak days of Holy Week.
However, PAGASA said brief rain showers or thunderstorms may still occur, particularly over the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao, usually in the afternoon or evening.
From Friday to Sunday, March 27 to 29, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail across the country, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms expected mostly in the southern portion of Mindanao.
Between Monday and Wednesday, March 30 and April 1, a ridge of a high-pressure area over the northwest Pacific will extend across Northern Luzon, bringing generally clear to partly cloudy skies over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Ilocos Region.
The rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with possible afternoon or evening rain showers due to the easterlies.
PAGASA said localized thunderstorms may still bring sudden heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds.
