Authorities are stepping up efforts to track down the suspect involved in a viral “gas-and-run” incident in Quezon City on Sunday, March 22.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said it has intensified its investigation into an alleged estafa case that occurred at around 12:35 a.m. on March 22 at a gasoline station in Barangay Apolonio Samson.
According to the police report, a pump attendant had just finished servicing a customer driving a white Toyota Innova, who purchased diesel fuel worth P5,196.45.
The driver then sped off southbound along EDSA without paying.
Personnel from the La Loma Police Station (PS 1) immediately conducted an ocular inspection and reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to gather leads.
The QCPD created a Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked with identifying and locating the vehicle’s registered owner and determining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The QCPD is taking this matter seriously,” the district said in its statement, urging the public to cooperate.
Authorities called on anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact emergency hotlines E911 or the QC Helpline 122.
The incident, which has circulated widely on social media, has raised concerns over similar schemes targeting fuel stations, prompting police to heighten vigilance and investigation efforts.
