The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has restored safer driving conditions along MIA Road in Pasay City following the repair of hazardous drainage covers ahead of the anticipated increase in motorists during the Holy Week travel period.
A concerned citizen raised the issue on social media, flagging elevated drainage covers along MIA Road that posed risks to motorists.
In response, the DPWH's South Manila District Engineering Office conducted repair works from March 22 to 25 to address the reported hazards.
“The drainage covers underwent a one-week curing period before they can be fully utilized, and are scheduled to be opened in the coming Holy Week,” the agency said.
A total of seven drainage covers were rehabilitated along key sections of MIA Road, including stretches near Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Domestic Road, and Tambo Bridge, which are known for heavy traffic and continuous public transport operations.
DPWH urged the public to report damaged road infrastructure to help ensure timely repairs and prevent road accidents across Metro Manila.
