Robert Bolick showed nerves of steel and drained a cold-blooded triple late as NLEX survived Ginebra and the huge explosion of Justin Brownlee, 118-113, in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday, March 27.
With his team down by one, 112-113, Bolick’s eye sparked after seeing RJ Abarrientos in front of him and squared up for the booming triple with 45.7 seconds left to power a telling 12-1 run to end the game.
Bolick fired 37 points — none bigger than his last five that helped NLEX trim a 106-112 deficit in the last 4:27 of the game. He also added seven assists and four rebounds as NLEX also spoiled Brownlee’s conference-best 46-point showing.
Cady Lalanne, who also had crucial baskets during that run, finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds while Schonny Winston added 21.
LJ Gonzales was also a spark with 14 off the bench for NLEX which had to endure a searing 19-3 rally from the Kings to erect a 30-18 advantage at the end of the opening frame.
