With rising global conflicts, it comes as no surprise that 2026 is projected to see an increase in domestic travel. Based on the recent Travel Pulse 2026 study by Klook Philippines, Filipinos are more likely to stick closer to home when planning their next trips. Just last year, 71 percent of Filipino users traveled domestically, with notable top spots including Metro Manila, go-to beach destinations like Boracay and Cebu, and rising provincial areas like Cavite and Pampanga. For international travel, closer destinations like Vietnam, Taiwan, and Thailand also saw a surge in popularity.
Travel Pulse 2026 also revealed key trends that Filipinos consider when planning their trips. Affordability and long-lasting experiences remain the top factors for Filipino travelers when deciding where they want to go. This means we prioritize staying within budget, building memories with travel companions (often family or friends), seeking meaningful experiences, and ease of planning (accommodations, transport, and visa applications). While staying on budget is a top priority, respondents also shared they are willing to go over the budget when it comes to food and experiences like local tours, workshops, and activities. Among those surveyed, almost 50 percent of respondents also rank shared experiences that bring loved ones together as a top priority when planning trips for 2026.
Use of artificial intelligence (AI) programs also saw a new high this year as more travelers use AI apps to research travel destinations and form their itineraries. It has also been a useful tool in bridging the language barrier. Others also use AI to help form a budget for their trip. Though AI has become popular in shaping these journeys, many still refer to shared experiences seen on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter (X), TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Influencers and vloggers sharing their trip experiences help most users discover new locations and learn what experiences are worth checking out.
Meanwhile, new travel trends to look out for include the growing popularity of concert tourism. Singapore was among the first to tap into this market after exclusively hosting Taylor Swift during her Eras tour in 2024. They have since hosted other musical icons like Lady Gaga, Coldplay, and even our very own SB19. Popular music genres like K-pop have also driven many of their fans to fly out to attend concerts. In the Philippines, we are starting to see more global artists coming by as well. Last year, hip-hop icon Tyler, the Creator chose Manila as his final stop for his Chromakopia tour with a packed two-day show.
Taking all these ideas into account, it’s exciting to see just how these trends will play out in 2026. Here’s hoping things get better so we can all seek out exciting new experiences worldwide, without any worries.
