As the country’s largest cashless ecosystem, GCash continues to lead the digital transformation, championing financial inclusion by strengthening partnerships across the private and public sectors through strategic collaborations.
Celebrating connections and partnerships, the GCash Digital Excellence Awards 2025 honored key leaders from government institutions, partner agencies, and industry stakeholders for their outstanding initiatives in digital innovation. Held on February 19 at the Grand Hyatt Manila, the event highlighted how GCash continues to empower various sectors through technology-driven solutions.
Under the theme “Honoring Digital Excellence, Empowering the Future,” the awards recognized organizations that have embraced technology to enhance service delivery, improve accessibility, and accelerate the adoption of secure and seamless digital financial solutions across the Philippines.
“It's a platform we created because we know GCash, with all its milestones, is not doing this on its own. It's done through partnership with all of you. And it's all of these partnerships over the years that we are, we have gotten here, and helping us with our mission of closing the gap of financial inclusion,” said Ernest Cu, Chairman of the Board of GCash (MYNT)
Across the country, digital payments are quietly reshaping everyday life—not only in major cities, but also in public markets, transport terminals, municipal halls, schools, and health centers. What was once viewed as a matter of convenience has evolved into something far more meaningful: access. For many communities, particularly those in underserved and remote areas, digital tools are opening doors to faster services, safer transactions, and greater participation in the formal economy.
“We want to reach the most remote areas of the Philippines, the last mile, ensuring that government services are truly universal,” said GCash VP - Head of Public Sector Cleo Celeste Santos.
Enhancing everyday life through digital innovation
GCash has evolved into more than a digital payments platform—it has become a bridge between institutions and the communities they serve. By providing secure technology and reliable infrastructure, it empowers government partners to deliver services more efficiently, all anchored in a shared mission of advancing finance for all.
For MSMEs, this creates opportunities to formalize their businesses and participate more fully in the digital economy—gaining credibility, expanding their reach, and serving customers with greater ease. For everyday consumers, it translates into faster, safer, and more convenient transactions seamlessly integrated into daily life.
Through its partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority, essential services are now closer to citizens, allowing Filipinos to register for a national ID and complete account verification seamlessly. Civil registry documents, such as birth and marriage certificates, can be requested digitally, sparing families long travel times and hours spent in line.
Commuters enjoy the convenience of cashless payments at transport hubs like PITX and MRT-3 stations, where a simple QR scan takes the place of manual queues. Meanwhile, digital access to PhilHealth contributions allows individuals to maintain healthcare coverage without visiting physical offices, and expanded access to insurance options helps families build financial security for the future.
By embedding digital solutions into public markets, transport systems, healthcare, and government services, GCash strengthens the connection between institutions and citizens. In doing so, it transforms technology into tangible impact—expanding access, improving transparency, and enabling more Filipinos to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
These initiatives were reflected in the remarks of Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director General Hon. Sec. Ernesto V. Perez, who commended GCash for its strong engagement with government institutions and its role in advancing digital financial inclusion as a platform that enhances convenience and transparency.
“GCash will be recognizing not only the usual awardees from the LGUs and national government agencies. It has expanded the recognition to state universities, hospitals, and water districts,” he said.
Empowering public sectors through digital innovations
The event highlights GCash's role in digital excellence and its commitment to empowering the future. While national progress discussions often focus on infrastructure, the government’s dedication to serving all sectors promotes a vision of inclusive finance for everyone.
“Everything we do is anchored in our shared vision of finance for all. Every leader here tonight is a testament to the belief that no Filipino should be left behind in the digital economy,” said Santos, highlighting that the honorees, the government partners, are the true enablers of change. “We stand alongside the government in its mission to serve everyone.”
GCash highlighted its commitment to helping government initiatives achieve full implementation, emphasizing the benefits of integrating digital payments—improved efficiency, convenience, and streamlined workflows. The company celebrated the collective achievements of public sector partners, whose vision and dedication have positioned the Philippines as a leading digital payments market in Southeast Asia and globally.
“We want to continue walking this path of transformation together. Today is about celebrating the collective achievements of our public sector partners who have been with us through our journey. Your vision, great determination, have made the Philippines a digital contender on the global stage,” said Ernesto Cu.
Rather than merely introducing new technology, GCash has focused on working alongside public institutions and local leaders to ensure these systems deliver real impact on the ground. When a market vendor accepts cashless payments, when a commuter scans a QR code instead of lining up for a ticket, or when a family processes government documents without hours of travel, digital transformation becomes personal. It becomes practical. It becomes empowering.
These partnerships reflect a shared commitment to financial inclusion—one that extends beyond infrastructure into the daily realities of Filipinos. By embedding secure, user-friendly digital solutions into essential services, communities are not only modernizing processes but also strengthening trust, transparency, and efficiency in public service. In doing so, they help shape a more inclusive digital economy where no one is left behind.
