The Quezon City government has partnered with the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory to bring handcrafted bags made by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) to a larger market.
The collaboration involves the QC Jail, the QC Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office, and Quezon City University.
It aims to transform skill and creativity into economic opportunities.
Products were displayed at Solaire Resort North, giving them exposure to a wider customer base and opening new doors for PDLs.
Since its launch, the partnership has generated over P100,000 in sales as of February 2026, which directly supports participating PDLs and their families.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the initiative aligns with the city’s “No Woman Left Behind” program, giving opportunities to women who are detained.
“This is what second chances look like,” she said in a statement on Wednesday, March 25.
“By bringing their craftsmanship to a wider audience, we are helping women rebuild their confidence, support their families, and prepare for life beyond detention,” she added.
The QC government also stressed that the partnership embodies inclusion, dignity, and hope, noting that lives can be rebuilt.
