Mayor Francis eyes completion of Makabagong San Juan Sports Center by end of 2027
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora shared that the construction of the much-awaited Makabagong San Juan Sports Center is right on track and is now on its third floor on Tuesday, March 24, which aims to be the center of sports and health development of San Juaneño youths.
After the city government broke ground for its construction on March 21, 2025, building works have been continuously done to finish the facility, targeted to be completed before the end of 2027.
"Ang Makabagong San Juan Sports Center ay magsisilbing sentro ng ating mga programa sa palakasan at kalusugan lalo na para sa ating kabataan. Sa pamamagitan nito, maitataguyod natin ang malusog na pangangatawan at matibay na kaisipan, at maiiwas ang ating mga kabataan sa masasamang bisyo lalong lalo na sa droga (The Makabagong San Juan Sports Center will serve as the center of our sports and health programs, especially for our youth. Through this, we can promote a healthy body and a strong mind, and prevent our youth from bad habits, especially drugs)," Zamora said.
The amenities of the sports center include:
First floor:
• Parking
• Area for relief operations
Second floor:
• 5-lane, 25-meter Swimming Pool
• Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Aikido
• Pickleball
• Badminton interchangeable with Sepak Takraw
• Table Tennis
• Boxing
• Chess
• Billiards
• Darts
• General area for all other sports such as Arnis
Third floor:
• Basketball / Volleyball / Futsal stadium with more than 1,700 seating capacity, which can be used for events as well
Fourth floor:
• Jogging Trail (1.10 m wide, 126.28 m track)
• Physical Fitness Gym
Now on his last term as city mayor, Zamora said his administration continues to promote sports and wellness development for San Juaneños through the creation of programs and initiatives aimed at improving their well-being.
