Love on the rocks? Maine Mendoza's absence at in-laws' party sparks separation rumors

Some fans have taken notice after "Eat Bulaga" star Maine Mendoza was absent from the birthday celebration of her in-laws, Art and Ria Atayde — leading some to wonder about her relationship with husband Cong. Arjo Atayde.

The speculation caught fire when comedian Bayani Agbayan posted a TikTok clip of the celebration — the entire Atayde clan gathered and all smiles, with one glaring omission: Maine.

The video was pulled down, but not before the internet had already seen enough. "Hiwalay na ba sila Maine at Arjo?" (Have Maine and Arjo broken up?) one netizen demanded — and suddenly, everyone wanted answers.

Adding fuel to the fire: Maine's birthday came and went on March 3 without a single post featuring Arjo — no couple selfie, no sweet message, nothing.

On March 3, however, Arjo took to Instagram to greet Maine, sharing two black-and-white photos alongside the caption: "Through all the ups and downs, I'm so grateful I get to do life with you. Happy birthday, my love. I love you so much."

Bayani later explained that he took the video down after realizing it was a private matter. As for Maine's absence, she wasn't feeling well, according to a report by Pep.

But the chatter only grew louder when Maine finally posted birthday photos on March 5 — two days late, cake in hand, and still no Arjo in sight.

Her caption kept things breezy: "Grateful for the overflowing birthday love. Thank you for the greetings and wishes. Happy 31st!" — warm, cheerful, and Arjo-free.

Then on March 14, Maine switched gears entirely — posting snapshots from a Vietnam getaway with friends, captioned simply "hcm on film." No drama. No explanations. Just Maine, living her life.

The comment section erupted:
"Pwede naman ma absent. Hiwalay agad ang speculation."
"Remember the power couple. Wala lang. Remember mo lang Lol."
"Nong bday celeb ni Maine sa EB, parang absent si Cong."
"In your dreams, Aldub Nation. Mahal na mahal ni Maine si Arjo."
"Are they the power couple na hiwalay na. Always in the blind item?"
"Hindi naman sila power couple."
"Buti na lang wala pa silang anak."
