ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City government has released fuel subsidies to tricycle drivers to help ease the impact of rising fuel prices due to the Middle East conflict.
The Iloilo City government started distributing coupons on Wednesday, March 25, for Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) members.
Tricycle drivers and operators are entitled to a fuel subsidy of P500 per month.
“We understand the impact of fuel price increase, we are also able to make the situation of our transport groups easier,” said Mayor Raisa Treñas in a statement.
More than 1,700 tricycle drivers from Arevalo, Jaro, La Paz and Molo Districts composed the first batch of beneficiaries on Wednesday.
Beneficiaries from City Proper and Mandurriao Districts will receive their coupons on Thursday. The third batch will get theirs on Saturday, March 28.
The city government will distribute coupons for drivers of traditional jeepneys after tricycle drivers.
