Global singer-songwriter SHAUN drops new single 'Diary'

Global singer-songwriter SHAUN, who has amassed over 1.9 billion cumulative streams worldwide and currently has 2.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, released his new pre-release single “Diary” on Feb. 10.

“Diary” marks the third pre-release single leading up to SHAUN’s upcoming EP, following previously released tracks “Pixels” and “Night Walk.” Continuing the project's narrative thread, the song offers a quiet reflection on time and emotion, documenting the past and present as if written in a personal journal.

Built around a band-oriented sound led by electric guitar, “Diary” highlights a stripped-back arrangement that places emphasis on melody and sonic flow, complemented by understated and introspective lyrics. Phrases such as “old paper and clumsy handwriting” symbolically reflect the traces of time gone by, presenting the past through a calm, present-day perspective rather than lingering in nostalgia. As with his previous works, SHAUN took the lead in writing, composing, and producing the track, maintaining his distinct musical identity.

The upcoming music video further expands the emotional landscape of “Diary” through a visual narrative that interweaves childhood memories of a fictional group called “The Time Machine Club” with the present. The story metaphorically portrays irreversible time and the connections that persist despite it. Film-like textures and analog-inspired imagery deepen the song’s sense of nostalgia and reflection.

SHAUN first gained global recognition with his 2018 EP [TAKE], particularly through the breakout hit “Way Back Home,” which established a strong international fanbase. He has since continued his musical journey with releases such as “Hello,” “36.5,” and the Omnibus series. Recently, SHAUN has also been engaging closely with fans through Naver’s streaming platform CHZZK, sharing both music and everyday moments. In December last year, he held an online solo concert where he performed 19 original songs live, drawing a peak concurrent viewership of approximately 15,000.

Beginning with the release of “Diary,” SHAUN will continue to unfold the project, with the full EP scheduled for release in April. This body of work traces both the path he has walked and the direction he is heading toward, offering a cohesive glimpse into the next chapter of his musical world.
