Four teams clash for semifinal berths in PVL

Four teams clash for semifinal berths on Thursday, March 26, as the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference heats up at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Top-seeded PLDT takes on No. 4 Farm Fresh at 4 p.m. while multi-titled Creamline faces the dangerous Cignal in the 6:30 p.m. nightcap, setting the stage for a pair of high-octane showdowns.
Despite carrying a 7-2 win-loss record from the preliminaries, the High Speed Hitters aren’t leaning on that edge against the Foxies, especially after needing five grueling sets to escape with a win in their first meeting earlier this month.
PLDT is also hoping to find its groove back, having stumbled in its last prelims assignment against Nxled before taking a week-long respite.
Savi Davison continues to anchor the High Speed Hitters with her steady production, while Kianna Dy, Majoy Baron, Alleiah Malaluan and Kim Fajardo provide solid support on both ends of the floor.
However, Farm Fresh, which wrapped up the preliminaries with a 5-4 slate, isn’t backing down, with Trisha Tubu leading the charge on offense.
The power-hitting Tubu tops the league in spiking and ranks second in scoring, trailing only Capital1’s Bella Belen.
She is also expected to draw solid support from a veteran core of Ces Molina, Royse Tubino, Riri Meneses, Mylene Paat and Ara Galang, mixing their experience and chemistry to fuel the team’s campaign.
In the other pairing, Creamline hopes to sustain its momentum after clawing its way into the Top 4 of the prelims, finishing third with a 6-3 card.
The 10-time champions are also banking on their hard-fought five-set win over the Super Spikers just last weekend to keep their title campaign alive.
While winners in the two matches advance directly to the Final Four, losing teams will be relegated in the play-in stage.
