Dagupan City implements energy conservation measures

DAGUPAN CITY – Mayor Belen T. Fernandez here has issued Executive Order No. 9, Series of 2026, implementing energy conservation measures due to the ongoing conflict overseas.
Fernandez said all government offices, barangays, and publicly funded activities are required to implement energy-saving measures.
These include switching off unused lights and equipment, limiting air conditioning use to a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius, and reducing non-essential travel and use of government vehicles.
She urged the regulation or scaling down of fiestas, festivals, and nighttime activities that consume significant electricity, while encouraging daytime scheduling of essential events.
Water conservation was emphasized, with instructions to repair leaks immediately and limit non-essential water use.
The private sector was strongly encouraged to participate by reducing electricity consumption, regulating the use of high-energy equipment, and promoting conservation practices among employees.
Fernandez pledged to lead by example, including reducing her use of an assigned government vehicle as part of the city’s austerity efforts.
Officials said that a whole-of-community approach is necessary to sustain public services during ongoing energy and economic challenges.
