CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – About 8,400 personnel will be deployed by the Police Regional Office 4-A for Ligtas Summer Vacation (Sumvac) 2026 in the Calabarzon region.
Police Brig. Gen Hansel Marantan, PRO 4-A director, said they will be complemented by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and other partner agencies, and 4,266 force multipliers, including advocacy groups and trained volunteers.
The PRO 4-A anticipates a surge in travelers and public activity during key events such as the Lenten season, Philippine Veterans’ Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Labor Day, National Flag Day, Flores de Mayo, and various local fiestas in the region.
Marantan said they have identified 1,023 critical areas requiring intensified police presence and security operations due to large crowds – 216 places of worship such as spiritually significant churches in Antipolo City, the “Kamay ni Jesus” in Quezon province, the Diocesan Shrine of Saint John the Baptist in Laguna, 261 major thoroughfares, 87 transportation terminals, 200 commercial establishments, and 227 tourist destinations.
Marantan said they are on full alert status starting March 27 and underscored the importance of proactive policing, risk assessment, and community collaboration.
"Aligned with the focused agenda of our chief PNP, we are strengthening the management of all public activities, intensifying crowd control measures, and implementing comprehensive risk management plans across all levels, especially during red-letter days and other significant holidays in the county,” Marantan said.
“We continuously revisit and improve our security operations, especially in identified areas of concern, to ensure that every event, gathering, and movement of people is secured with precision, discipline, and foresight.” Marantan added.
Public advisories, including safety tips and emergency hotline numbers, will be regularly posted on the official PRO 4-A and local police station social media platforms.
Marantan called on the public to remain vigilant and actively cooperate with authorities in maintaining peace and order.
“We strongly urge everyone to remain alert and report any suspicious individuals or activities immediately through our nearest police stations, SUMVAC help desks, or dedicated hotline numbers 09155108286 and 09985985583. Ang ating kaligtasan ay nakasalalay sa sama-samang pagkilos at pakikiisa ng bawat isa (Our safety depends on everyone's collective action and solidarity),” he said.
