ILOILO CITY – Murder charges have been filed against three suspects in the fatal stabbing incident where four people from two families were killed in La Paz District over the weekend.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) filed murder charges against suspects Gilbert Muya Jr., Glenbert Muya, and Alexander Jadulos on Tuesday, March 24.
They were part of a violent confrontation that led to the deaths of 46-year-old Joeven Provido, 40-year-old Johnny Provido Jr., 68-year-old Johnny Provido Sr., and 33-year-old Tyrone Muya.
The 43-year-old Gilbert and brother 39-year-old Glenbert were injured and currently in the hospital while 43-year-old Jadulos escaped.
The Provido brothers allegedly went to the Muya household and confronted the family over P1,500 worth of shabu paid for but never delivered.
Closed circuit television camera footage showed the confrontation turned violent when someone from the Muya household came out and stabbed the Provido brothers.
Johnny Sr., who pacified the verbal fight, was also fatally stabbed.
“Justice will be served for the victims of this tragic incident. Our security measures are being strengthened as we continue to serve and protect the people of Iloilo City,” said Iloilo City police chief Police Col. Wilbert B. Parilla.
The ICPO intervened by enforcing a security measure that would avoid another conflict between the Muya and Provido families.
Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson, said the wake of the Providos would be in a separate area.
The wake for the Providos would not be in Barangay San Isidro where the Muya family will have its wake for Tyrone.
