DAVAO CITY – Former President Rodrigo Duterte's ancestral house on Taal St., Bangkal, Barangay Talomo Proper here is temporarily closed to visitors.
According to caretaker Mila, the Duterte patriarch's former wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman, issued the directive.
While the property is closed to the public for walk-in tours, Mila said visitors can still take photos with a standee of the former Chief Executive displayed at the gate.
The home, located in the Central Park Subdivision, holds cultural and historical significance for the city, as it was once the home of the Duterte family.
Now, it hosts the family's annual Christmas gift-giving tradition, "Pahalipay sa Taal," which draws thousands of residents each year and highlights a spirit of generosity and community.
The house also remains a symbol of the Duterte family's connection to the community and shared memories for many, particularly in Davao City.
Visitors, supporters, and tourists are welcome to view the exterior of the property, especially during the peak of the city's 89th Araw ng Dabaw celebrations.
The caretaker denied social media claims suggesting that the ancestral home would be permanently closed.
