Ford Philanthropy and Ford Philippines have donated a Ford Ranger Sport 4x4 to Gawad Kalinga, giving the organization another vehicle it can use for relief work, logistics, and travel to communities around the country.
The turnover took place during the launch of Ford Building Together at the Gawad Kalinga headquarters in Mandaluyong City. Ford said the program is a global initiative that brings together its dealers, employees, volunteers, partner organizations, and vehicles to support community work.

For Gawad Kalinga, the Ranger adds mobility to both regular field operations and disaster response. Ford said the pickup will help the organization move supplies and personnel, especially when work has to be done in hard-to-reach areas or in places affected by emergencies.
The event was attended by Ford Philanthropy president Mary Culler and Ford Philippines managing director Pedro Simoes. Culler said working with local partners remains important because it allows support to reach communities directly while helping create longer-term opportunities for families. Simoes said Ford Building Together brings several parts of the company’s community work into one program, from vehicle support and dealer participation to volunteer efforts on the ground.
The launch also puts a wider Ford and Gawad Kalinga partnership under one banner. One part of that is disaster preparedness through Operation Walang Iwanan, under which Ford has supported Gawad Kalinga disaster response hubs in six regions.
According to Ford, those hubs have been equipped with Starlink mini satellite internet, emergency tents, waders, mobile kitchens, EcoFlow solar battery power, water filtration systems, and communication tools. The company said the program supported more than 11,500 people affected by typhoons, fires, and earthquakes between 2024 and 2025.

Ford also cited its longer-running community work with Gawad Kalinga through Operation Better World. Since 2015, the company said medical and dental missions, health training, and nutrition programs under the partnership have reached more than 15,000 patients, trained over 1,100 community health champions, and engaged more than 1,000 volunteers nationwide.
The partnership also includes Kusina ng Kalinga, which provides regular nutritious meals for children in underserved communities. Ford said this year’s efforts will also include READ, a 12-week reading support program for children in Bagong Silang, Caloocan who need extra literacy assistance.
Also discussed during the event was Ford’s continuing collaboration with Scholars of Sustenance Philippines, a food rescue group that redistributes surplus food from businesses to communities facing hunger. Ford said the initiative in Nueva Vizcaya is aimed at reducing food waste while helping improve access to meals.
With the Ranger donation and the launch of Ford Building Together, Ford Philippines and Ford Philanthropy are tying several existing efforts together while giving Gawad Kalinga added transport support for its work on the ground.
