Minimum wage earners and domestic workers in Region V will receive higher pay starting April under newly approved wage orders issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Bicol approved Wage Order No. V-23 for private sector workers, providing a two-tranche increase for minimum wage earners.
Wage Order No. RBV-DW-04 covers domestic workers, granting a fixed monthly adjustment for kasambahays.
Minimum wage earners will receive an initial P20 increase starting Apr. 8, followed by a second tranche of P25 on December 1, 2026.
This brings the minimum daily wage in Bicol from P435 to P480 upon full implementation.
The adjustment covers private sector workers in Iriga City, Legazpi City, Ligao City, Masbate City, Naga City, Sorsogon City, and Tabaco City, as well as the provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon.
DOLE said the staggered implementation is designed to gradually improve workers’ earnings while giving employers time to absorb the additional labor costs.
Meanwhile, domestic workers or kasambahays will receive a P1,000 monthly increase, effective Apr. 5.
This raises the monthly minimum wage for kasambahays in the region from P5,000 to P6,000, covering the same cities and provinces included for minimum wage earners.
