Reigning champion College of St. Benilde and Letran brace for a potential Finals rematch as they look to finish off their respective semis foes in Game 2 of the NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball tournament at the San Andres Gym in Malate, Manila Wednesday, March 25.
The five-peat seeking Lady Blazers try to cruise to their fifth finals appearance against the Lady Altas, who are determined to end their title drought in the distaff side.
Game time is set at 11 a.m., which comes before the 2 p.m. collision between the Lady Knights and the Lady Red Spikers.
Last edition, CSB, vying in its fourth consecutive finale, and Letran disputed the crown, but it was the Lady Blazers who turned out as champion after sweeping the Lady Knights in two games. Arellano then outlasted Mapua to settle for third place.
The last team to secure five straight Finals berths in the women’s volleyball division of the grand old league was the San Sebastian Lady Stags in the mid-2000s, when they were guided by veteran coach Roger Gorayeb.
Zam Nolasco, who erupted for CSB with a 28 points in the semis opener, is expected to carry the cudgels anew for the Taft-based squad alongside Kai Lleses and Clydel Catarig.
Perpetual, on the other hand, leans on Jem Menor, Shai Omipon, and Cyrille Almeniana as they hope to extend their tournament lives and avenge their 17-25, 25-18, 27-25, 19-25, 8-15 Game 1 loss to Benilde.
Meanwhile in another semis bracket, Letran and San Beda are duking it out with the latter looking to strike back at its longtime rival.
