ZAMBOANGA CITY – Some 22,000 households covered by four power feeders continue to suffer a prolonged power outage here due to a defective power transformer.
The power outage that started at dawn on Sunday, March 22, is entering its third day after a routine maintenance check on an aging 1999 power transformer led to problems causing the massive power outage.
Mayor Khymer Olaso met Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative officials to resolve the ongoing crisis.
Among temporary solutions proposed were the use and transfer of an existing transformer from the west coast and eight-hour rotating blackouts to distribute and share power among the affected feeders.
A third-party contractor and electrical engineers from other parts of the region are currently in Zamboanga City to help resolve the dire situation.
