Village dad shot dead in Northern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY – The Northern Samar Police Provincial Office arrested two suspects in the murder of a barangay kagawad (councilor) on Sunday, March 22, in Barangay Osmeña, Lope de Vega, Northern Samar.
The 51-year-old victim and his partner were
walking from Barangay Buenavista, Calbayog City to Lope de Vega when the suspects fired at them in a river crossing. The victim’s live-in partner was wounded.
One of the suspects was a fellow kagawad from Barangay Osmena.
Initial investigation pointed to a personal grudge stemming from a heated argument during a drinking session as motive for the killing.
The Lope de Vega Municipal Police Station and the 1st Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested the suspects in a hot pursuit operation at around 4 p.m. in Barangay Buenavista.
The NSPPO condemned the attack. “Rest assured the suspects will be brought to justice without delay. The Northern Samar Police will never tolerate violence and will continue to act swiftly and decisively to protect our communities.”
