Teen stabbed during riot in Malate, Manila in critical condition
A teenager is in critical condition after he was stabbed during a riot between youth groups in Malate, Manila, on Sunday, March 22.
According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the victim, 17 years old, and his group engaged in a street rumble with another group of teenagers along San Andres Street, with some carrying stones and metal items as weapons.
During the riot, the victim was stabbed three times in his back by a 21-year-old man identified as alias "John," before escaping from the scene.
Police officers immediately responded to the area and rushed the victim to Ospital ng Maynila (OsMan), where he remains confined.
Meanwhile, eight minors involved in the riot were initially placed under custody before they were turned over to the Manila Department of Social Welfare's (MDSW) Reception and Action Center.
The police are still hunting down John who remains at large, as well as the rest of the individuals involved in the incident.
