Wushu Arena Philippines, a traditional martial arts school based at Fisher Mall, Quezon City, has concluded its campaign at the 21st Hong Kong International Wushu Championships  slated March 20 to 24, securing 24 gold, three silver, and three bronze medals across 31 events.
The 10-athlete delegation — ranging from 6-year-old Luyi Corpuz to seasoned adult competitors — represented the Philippines across Taijiquan, Taijijian, Changquan, Nanquan, and Traditional Wushu divisions. The team also received Overseas Communications Ambassador Award
The result builds on the school's existing international track record of 45 medals from previous Hong Kong championships and 21 medals from the Emei Cup International Wushu Championships in Chengdu, China.
An inclusive model that is getting global attention
Unlike many competitive Wushu programs, Wushu Arena Philippines operates under an open-door policy — welcoming children, adults, seniors, and students with special needs regardless of prior experience or athletic background.
"Wushu is not just for the agile or the competitive. It is for everyone — the young, the old, the sick, the busy, the differently abled. Regardless of your adjectives, you need to move. And our door is open," said Head Coach Arra Jeuneze Corpuz.
This philosophy recently earned the school recognition as an official member of the global Martial Arts Coalition advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — making it one of the only Philippine organizations on the (MCS) coalition's international map.
