POLICE vowed tight security for the transport strike in Bacolod City. (PRO-NIR)
BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region is ready to secure the transport strike in this highly urbanized city on Monday, March 23.
“We are fully prepared to ensure the safety of the public and the orderly conduct of the activity,” said Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR director.
Ibay called on the public to cooperate and maintain peace and discipline throughout the event.
Police Lt. Col. Joem Malong, PRO-NIR spokesperson, said all security forces are on standby, including Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) units that can be deployed immediately if needed.
Police visibility has been heightened across major roads, transport terminals, convergence areas, and key establishments on the caravan route.
Authorities have been strategically positioned to manage traffic, ensure public safety, and maintain peace and order.
To assist affected commuters, patrol vehicles will be deployed for a Libreng Sakay or free rides.
The rally protests rising oil prices due to the Middle East conflict.
