Popular Igorot singer killed in motorcycle-truck collision

CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – A well-known Igorot singer was killed in a collision between a truck and motorcycle in Kilometer 6 in La Trinidad, Benguet, early Sunday morning, March 22.
The victim was identified as Ivan, 40, of San Carlos Heights, Irisan, Baguio City.
The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station said the truck attempted to overtake a Toyota Hilux pickup truck but allegedly swerved into the opposite lane and collided head-on with Ivan’s motorcycle. 
The victim and his motorcycle were thrown onto the road.
He was taken to the Benguet General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The victim’s back rider survived.
The victim’s motorcycle was totally wrecked.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation and preparing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property against the 40-year-old truck driver from Tublay, Benguet who reportedly failed to present a driver’s license at the time of the incident.
Ivan was known for composing and performing songs such as “Kaman Nina,” “Udan,” “Rikna,” “Sungbat,” and “Paradaan.”
The local music industry mourned the loss of a respected artist.
