Alex Eala is already set to pocket a hefty payday by reaching the Miami Open Round of 16 -- and that prize money could grow even bigger if she advances further.
After her 6-3, 7-6 (2) victory over Magda Linette on Sunday, March 22 (Philippine time), the 20-year-old Eala is guaranteed $105,720 (around P6.3 million) for securing a spot in the Last 16.
Her victory sets up a Round of 16 clash with 13th seed Karolina Muchova, and another win would not only send Eala to the quarterfinals but also boost her earnings to $193,645 (around P11.6million).
Last year, Eala reached the semifinals, pocketing $332,160 -- roughly P19.9 million at today’s conversion.
