House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III highlighted the importance of sacrifice and compassion in his Eid’l Fitr message on Saturday, March 21, even as Filipinos continued to confront mounting global and economic challenges.
“As our Muslim brothers and sisters celebrate Eid’l Fitr, we honor a journey of faith marked by discipline, sacrifice and generosity—values that can guide us as we face the challenges ahead, and work to overcome these as one nation,” Dy said in a statement, alluding to the hardships caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Eid’l Fitr, or the “Feast of Breaking the Fast", marks the end of Ramadan’s month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting and symbolizes spiritual renewal, gratitude and community. It was observed over the weekend
Dy said the occasion highlights the importance of reflection, humility and solidarity, which remain essential in strengthening both communities and public institutions.
The Isabela 6th district representative notes that Eid is observed through special prayers, charitable giving, and the renewal of family and community ties.
“These traditions remind us of our duty to care for others, especially the most vulnerable, and to build stronger, more compassionate communities,” he said.
“Sa diwa ng Eid, nawa’y patuloy nating isabuhay ang malasakit sa kapwa at pagkakaisa bilang isang bansa sa gitna ng mga hamon sa buong mundo (In the spirit of Eid, may we continue to embody compassion for others and unity as one nation amid the challenges faced across the world.)
He stressed that these shared values are crucial as the Philippines addresses economic pressures, geopolitical tensions, and threats to food and energy security.
“Let this celebration inspire us to build a more inclusive, resilient, and united Philippines where every Filipino has hope and opportunity," Dy said.
