Pasay City Police Station chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspect as "Joffrey," 36, an alleged member of the Sputnik Gang and a resident of Barangay 51.
He was apprehended during the operation conducted by the personnel of Substation 4 along the corner of M. Dela Cruz and Magtibay Streets in Barangay 134.
Prior to his arrest, authorities spotted a red car parked along a narrow road, obstructing traffic, prompting them to inspect.
During the inspection, they found no key in the ignition but recognized the suspect seated in the driver’s seat, whom they discovered had a history of repeated detention.
Based on the police records, the suspect had previously been arrested for theft, carjacking, and illegal possession of drugs.
He also failed to present a driver’s license and documents proving ownership of the vehicle, prompting police to issue a traffic citation.
However, officers noticed that he was acting uneasy, which led to a body check that resulted in the discovery of a .38-caliber revolver inside a light gray sling bag in his possession.
The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
