The Bolts fired eight unanswered points midway through the final frame to erect an 89-78 cushion – a lead they managed to preserve to pick up their second win in as many games at the expense of the Fuel Masters.
Jason Brickman, the 34-year-old Bolts rookie, proved to be steady for Meralco, firing 16 points – including a tough elbow jumper that further stretched the Bolts lead to 13, 93-80, with 1:24 left.
He also added seven rebounds and five assists while also having no turnovers in almost 30 minutes of play.
His backcourt partner, Chris Banchero, also dazzled with 17 points while import Marvin Jones finished with a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds to go with two blocks.
Chris Newsome chipped in 11 while CJ Cansino chalked up 10.
Meralco survived a good start from Phoenix which led by as many as 10 early on. James Dickey III had 28 points and 21 rebounds.
Ricci Rivero also fired 22 though he seemingly ran out of gas after being held scoreless by Meralco’s defense in the final frame.
