Marcos: Eid'l Fitr a reminder of compassion, unity, shared responsibility
President Marcos joined Muslim Filipinos in celebrating Eid’l Fitr, emphasizing that the occasion is a reminder of compassion, unity, and shared responsibility in building a stronger nation.
“In the name of Allah, the Most Just and the Most Merciful, I join our Muslim Filipino brothers and sisters here at home and across the world in the solemn and joyous celebration of Eid’l Fitr,” the President said in his message on Saturday, March 21.
The President said Eid’l Fitr marks the culmination of Ramadan, a period of prayer, fasting, reflection, and generosity that strengthens both the individual and the community.
He stressed that the values learned during Ramadan should go beyond the holy month and be reflected in everyday life.
“The virtues nurtured during this sacred month—compassion, humility, patience, and charity—must not end with the breaking of the fast,” Marcos said.
“They must strengthen families, restore hope in communities, and remind us that a nation is built not only through laws and institutions, but through people who choose kindness, responsibility, and solidarity with one another,” he added.
The President also highlighted how these values help sustain peace and unity in communities, especially in times of difficulty.
“These are the virtues that preserve peace in our neighborhoods, sustain trust in our communities, and keep hope alive in difficult times,” he said.
Marcos expressed hope that the celebration would bring comfort and renewed strength to Filipinos.
“May this Eid bring comfort to those who carry heavy burdens, renewed strength to those who serve, and joy to every Filipino home,” he said.
The President added that the occasion should deepen understanding across faiths and cultures and reinforce the country’s shared aspiration for a more inclusive society.
“May it deepen understanding across faiths and cultures and continue to unite us in our shared aspiration to build a Bagong Pilipinas where dignity is upheld, opportunity reaches every Filipino, and peace flourishes through justice and mutual respect,” he said.
Malacañang earlier declared Friday, March 20, 2026, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar.
Eid'l Fitr, or the Festival of Breaking the Fast, is a significant Islamic holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.
In the country, Eid'l Fitr has been recognized by the Philippine government as a regular holiday under Republic Act No. 9177, also according to Presidential Proclamation No. 1083, signed into law on November 13, 2002.
