Published Mar 20, 2026 10:22 am
The Supreme Court (SC) will hold its first Nationwide Judiciary Fun Run on Sunday, March 22, as part of the celebration of its 125th founding anniversary on June 11.
About 7,000 judiciary officials and personnel in all judicial regions in the country are expected to participate in the first nationwide fun run that starts at 4 a.m.
In 2023 and 2024, the fun run event was held only at the SC compound in Manila.
In the National Capital Judicial Region (NCJR), the 2026 fun run starts at 4 a.m. at the SC courtyard in Ermita, Manila, and will proceed toward Roxas Boulevard.
Expected to spearhead the fun run in Manila are Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo and the justices of the SC, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, and Court of Tax Appeals, and judges of the trial courts.
It was organized by the SC sports committee which is headed by SC Associate Justice Raul B. Villanueva.
The technical working group is headed by lawyer Judy Ann C. Lazo-Beluso of the Office of the SC Clerk of Court En Banc, with a sub-technical working group chaired by the regional court managers from the participating judicial regions.
The SC’s Office of the Spokesperson said that the first judicial region will hold its fun run in San Fernando City, La Union; the second judicial region in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; and the third judicial region in Clark, Pampanga.
The fourth Judicial region-A will stage its event in Cavite; the fourth judicial region-B will host its activity in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and the fifth judicial region in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
In the Visayas, participants in the sixth judicial region will gather in Iloilo City. The seventh judicial region will hold its fun run in Cebu City, while the eighth judicial region will stage the event in Palo, Leyte.
In Mindanao, the ninth judicial region will host its fun run in Zamboanga City; the 10th judicial region in Bukidnon; the 11th judicial region in Davao; and the 12th judicial region in Iligan.
The event will feature four race categories -- 10KM, 5KM, 3KM, and 1.25KM, symbolizing the SC’s 125th founding anniversary.
The SC said the event will start with a stretching and Zumba session, followed by a safety and route briefing, and a roll call of participating judicial regions.
The awarding ceremonies will be held at 7:30 a.m.
In support of the SC’s “No Single-Use Plastic” Policy, all race participants are advised to bring their preferred water container or tumbler already filled with water on the day of the race.
Water refilling stations will be available at key points in the race route and at the SC. Bringing or using disposable water bottles is discouraged, the SC said.
The theme for this year’s fun run is “SPJI: In Full Speed” which refers to the SC’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022–2027 (SPJI), the judiciary’s five-year blueprint for institutional and modernization reforms.
