QCPD ready to launch probe into alleged links of cops to robbery cases amid suspect's viral video

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday, March 20, said that it is prepared to conduct an investigation into the viral video of a recently arrested robbery hold-up suspect allegedly implicating some of its police officers in his previous crimes.
"The QCPD would like to clarify that the recent viral video of a suspect arrested on March 15, 2026, in Manila, implicating QCPD personnel in connection with his previous cases, is misleading and unfounded," the police force said, noting that it has been consistent in its campaign against criminality, strictly in accordance with Philippine National Police (PNP) operational procedures.
According to the QCPD, the suspect was involved in a robbery hold-up incident in Quezon City last February of last year, where the suspect, at gunpoint, robbed his victim and took her valuables.
"Through a hot-pursuit operation, the suspect was subsequently arrested in Manila with a firearm in his possession. The recovered firearm was properly documented by QCPD personnel and handled in full compliance with the law. A case for violation of RA 10591 was filed before the office of the Manila Prosecutor. The affidavit of the victim likewise stated that she was robbed at gunpoint during the said incident," the QCPD explained.
"Verification further revealed that the suspect has prior records involving robbery and violations of the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act in February 2025, as well as robbery incidents in April, August, and October 2025," it added.
The police force said that it will review and revisit the case, stressing that if it is proven that any of its personnel committed wrongdoings during the operation, appropriate criminal and administrative charges will be filed against them.
"The QCPD does not tolerate any police conduct that violates legal protocols. Individuals with complaints regarding police operations are encouraged to file them through proper channels for appropriate investigation," it said.
"We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety of our community," the QCPD noted.
